What an amazing year for Beloit Public Library!

Our growing partnerships have made the library the Educational Hub it should be. Thanks to Blackhawk Technical College and Stateline Literacy Council, we now have college-level classes held here, as well as ESL, GED, and Citizenship classes. The Blender Learning Café has made two hospitality pathways available through the School District of Beloit and Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board. And Memory Cafés facilitated by Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Rock County are just a few of the advantages of collaboration.

The Children’s Area has a tree! Artist Sally Duback installed a wonderful piece of interactive art: It’s not only visually appealing, it encourages kids to learn beneath it, socializing with each other and interacting with all the learning tools like the chicken coop, or simply reading. Most wonderful of all, is seeing the kids pull their adults into the fun.

Programs! The staff have come up with incredible classes, activities, events, and programs. It’s the one compliment I hear most: There’s so much going on at the library. As a result, more people are coming to the library and discovering all the other resources and services offered. More and more, BPL is becoming a hive of activity and opportunity. A lot more is planned for 2020.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my staff for all that they do. From helping a student study for a big test to piecing together clues for a retiree researching family history, from engaging a teen in a game of chess to matching a third-grader with the perfect book, from helping a patron write a resume to connecting a homeless individual with needed community resources, and more. We have an amazing team who has your interests at heart and strives every day to make your library and community a comfortable, engaging, healthy, entertaining, desirable, and thought-provoking place to be.
