Strategic Plan

Every three years, Beloit Public Library invests resources to develop a forward-looking Strategic Plan. The current strategic plan spans 2025-2027.

Mission

To provide enriching, inspiring, and learning opportunities for all members of our diverse community.

Value 1: Community

We believe that all members of our community deserve respect and equitable treatment. We are committed to:

  • A. Actively welcome all members of our community to Beloit Public Library.
  • B. Actively raise awareness of Beloit Public Library services and resources.
  • C. Actively promote and model mutual understanding and respect among community members.
  • D. Provide safe, comfortable, and accessible spaces for the public, including meeting rooms for groups and quiet spaces for individual study.
  • E. Cultivate a rich, human environment for staff, users, board, and volunteers that reflects and serves our diverse community.

Value 2: Literacy

We believe that literacy is essential for the well-being of every member of our community and that a literate community is a vibrant community. We are committed to:

  • A. Play a community leadership role in prioritizing early literacy and life-long learning.
  • B. Encourage and support adult literacy.
  • C. Develop classes in digital literacy.

Value 3: Resources

We believe that informed residents contribute to a healthy community. We are committed to:

  • A. Assist library users in gathering information and gaining knowledge.
  • B. Assist library users in finding and procuring resources.
  • C. Provide library users with opportunities to access arts and entertainment.
  • D. Ensure community access to workforce resources and services.

Value 4: Technology and Facilities

We believe that up-to-date technology and facilities must be available to all members of the community. We are committed to:

  • A. Ensure sustainable access to up-to-date technology delivered through multiple platforms.
  • B. Provide instruction on digital technologies.
  • C. Manage facilities in ways that encourage partnership opportunities, and that meet community and facility needs.
  • D. Support and promote the partnerships for the Blender Café.

Value 5: Staff

We believe that our staff is Beloit Public Library’s most valuable asset. We are committed to:

  • A. Support staff members’ professional learning and development.
  • B. Ensure a safe work environment.
  • C. Ensure a work environment in which staff members are valued and respected.
  • D. Ensure the process for staff recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement meet the stated criteria.
  • E. Foster a culture of excellent customer service.
