If you use Libby or our OverDrive collection, you’ll notice some helpful updates that make managing your holds easier and wait time information more accurate. These changes are live now in Libby and on OverDrive library websites.

What’s New with Holds

  • Simpler suspensions: Instead of picking an end date when you suspend a hold, you’ll now simply unsuspend it whenever you’re ready.
  • Missed a delivery? If you miss your hold the first time it’s offered, it will stay suspended until you manually unsuspend it (instead of automatically reactivating after 7 days).
  • One-year limit: Holds that stay suspended for 365 days in a row will be canceled.
  • New wording: What used to be called “Deliver Later” is now just “Suspend.” Anytime you want to delay a hold—before or after it’s delivered—you’ll suspend it.

In Libby, you’ll see a notice on your Holds shelf if you already have holds placed. OverDrive websites won’t show a message, but you’ll still see the new behavior when using holds there.
