Phase I of Beloit Public Library’s construction project has already brought exciting changes to the building, with more improvements still on the way. This first phase is focused on enhancing convenience, access, technology, and the overall visitor experience throughout the library.

Still to come in Phase I is a new built-in indoor book drop, which will be added near the self pick-up holds area to make returns even easier for patrons. New furniture will also be installed, along with study pods that will offer comfortable spaces for quiet work, reading, and collaboration.

Technology upgrades are another major part of this phase. Our classrooms and two new telehealth rooms will receive new technology to better support learning, virtual appointments, and community use. Additional digital screens and updated directional signage will also help visitors navigate the library more easily and stay informed about programs, services, and announcements.

Patrons can also look forward to more public computers and new self-check machines, making it easier to access library resources and move through the building efficiently. One of the most significant improvements still ahead is opening the doorway that will allow public access to the upstairs level, creating better flow and expanding access to more library spaces.

Together, these updates represent an important step forward in modernizing Beloit Public Library and creating a more welcoming, functional, and accessible space for the community.

These improvements come as the result of a generous $3.89 million Flexible Facilities Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
