Beloit Public Library hosted six sections of the National AIDS Memorial Quilt from November 30 through December 7. Each panel featured a connection to the state of Wisconsin, and one of them included the memorial of Beloit College alum Michael Riesenberg. His classmate, author Ann Bausum, presented a talk on December 1 — World AIDS Day — that discussed the history of AIDS/HIV and drew comparisons between our country’s response to the AIDS crisis and the COVID pandemic.
Thank you to Beloit Public Library Foundation for funding this special exhibit. If you missed the display, check out these photos of the quilts. Each was beautiful and moving in their own way, not only honoring those who no longer are with us but showing us the toll the virus took on those who were left behind.
