In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Beloit Public Library is hosting an historic reenactment of Harriet Tubman, another African American who changed history.
Tea with Tubman will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20 at Beloit Public Library. It is open to all ages and, like all library programs, is free.
This one-woman show will feature Cynthia Maddox, a Chicago actress, director, vocalist, playwright, and producer who has acquired an audience by portraying the lives of a wide range of African American Heroines. Some people may remember Maddox as the woman who presented the program titled “5 Famous African American Women” at the library back in 2015.
Tea with Tubman is being held on Martin Luther King Jr. day as an opportunity for children and families to use the day off from school and work to learn about social rights and African American history.
