As part of ongoing building renovations, Beloit Public Library will temporarily relocate its computer lab beginning the afternoon of Friday, August 1.
To accommodate the construction work, the entire computer lab — including all public computers, printers, and the microfilm machine — will be moved to a temporary location in the open area in front of the Riverside Room. The move will begin mid-afternoon while the library remains open to the public. Staff will make every effort to keep some computers available during the transition to minimize service interruptions. Children’s computers will be moved at a later date.
During this construction phase, all public computers will remain fully functional and accessible in the temporary space until they are moved into the newly renovated lab.
Beloit Public Library remains committed to maintaining essential services throughout the renovation. We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we work to improve our facility. Additional updates will be shared on our website and social media channels as the project progresses.

About the Library Renovations
Library renovations are being completed in two phases:
Phase I is currently underway and will transform more than 30% of the library building. This phase focuses on enhancing services in response to four key community needs in a post-COVID-19 world: workforce development, healthcare access, high-speed internet, and education. Phase I renovations are covered by a $3,890,558 Flexible Facilities Program Grant that the Wisconsin Department of Administration awarded to BPL this past fall and are expected to be completed by February 2026.
Phase II will renovate the current children’s area into Discovery PLAYce—an immersive early learning environment for children ages 0–6 and their caregivers. This space will promote essential early learning skills through fun, hands-on experiences. Phase II will be funded by a capital campaign that is currently in its silent phase.
