Stateline Community Foundation recently awarded a $2,000 Community Impact Grant to Beloit Public Library to support The Civics Academy Series.

The Civics Academy, formerly known as Know Your Local Government, is a lunch-and-learn series that offers monthly presentations on public finance (city and schools), education, city services, housing, economic development, and other topics that are important to our community.

As a result of this generous award from The Stateline Community Foundation’s Community Impact Grant Program, the library will be able to provide free lunches for program attendees.

The goal of The Civics Academy is to engage residents with their local government and community so they can support and enact positive change in the City of Beloit. Like all library events, The Civics Academy is free and open to the public. Community members can attend all, one, or some of the sessions, depending on their interests. Sessions are also recorded and available to view from the library’s website.

The Civics Academy is held over the lunch hour once per month during the school year at Beloit Public Library, located at 605 Eclipse Boulevard. Registration is not required, but the first 25 who register for each session will receive a free lunch courtesy of Stateline Community Foundation.

The next session, featuring Rock County Administrator John Light, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
