On Monday, June 1, Beloit Public Library will open its doors to the public for the first time in 11 weeks. BPL has been closed due to concerns for safety with COVID-19 since the end of business day on March 14.

BPL will begin its re-opening plan with one week of service that will be limited to the use of computers, fax machine, and photocopiers. Hours will be 9:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

To allow for social distancing, only 10 computers will be available, each with a 90-minute limit. Use will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and only one person will be allowed at each computer.

Beginning the following week, regular services will begin with the exception of programs. BPL hopes to add limited in-person programming mid-June. Currently, meeting rooms are not open to outside groups.

Even after opening, BPL will continue to offer contactless, curbside pickup of materials to accommodate individuals who prefer the service over an in-person visit. This service also provides an alternative for at-risk populations. Beginning on June 8, curbside pickup will move away from the current appointment-based system to one that will require patrons to park in a designated spot, call, and wait for delivery to their car. More information will be forthcoming on those details.
