While the library has always been a treasure trove of books, our offerings go far beyond that. This issue highlights a few of those diverse programs that enrich our community. Beloit Public Library stands as a vital community hub, catering to various interests. Unveil the wonders that await – many of which don’t even require a library card for access.
Empowering Young Minds: Summer Camps for Kids
Beloit Public Library stands as a pillar of community engagement that extends far beyond the realm of books. This summer, thanks to a Ready to Learn grant from PBS KIDS, we collaborated with PBS KIDS to introduce two dynamic camps that left young minds buzzing with excitement: READY JET GO: Space Exploration Camp, and Sensational Science Camp with Ruff Ruffman. Guided by our skilled Early Literacy Programming specialist, Desiree Johnson, and Laurie Rakow-Larson, an educator in the Beloit School District, these interactive camps captured the imagination of our youth. The camps were so popular that wait lists formed for eager participants. From crafting rockets to unraveling the mysteries of friction through hands-on experiments, kids not only had fun but also absorbed STEM concepts in the process.
