Beloit Public Library is pleased to announce the release of an updated version of the SDB DataTool—an interactive resource that helps community members explore key information about the School District of Beloit (SDB) over time and in comparison with its peer districts.
The SDB DataTool is produced by the Wisconsin Policy Forum (WPF), a statewide nonpartisan, independent policy research organization. WPF conducts impartial public policy research and analysis to drive informed debate and effective decision-making across Wisconsin.
The initial DataTool was first released in December 2024 and was designed to make public education data easier to access, understand, and use in community conversations and local decision-making. The most recent release includes data from 2024-2025.
The SDB DataTool allows users to track and compare key education metrics in the School District of Beloit compared with other school districts in two peer groups: Local Peer Districts (selected based on their proximity to Beloit) and Statewide Peer Districts (selected based on similar characteristics).
Data comparisons cover such areas as:
- Student enrollment and demographics,
- District finances,
- Staffing and turnover,
- Test scores,
- Open enrollment, and
- Measures of student performance.
Financial support for this resource was provided by the Hendricks Family Foundation and the Beloit Public Library Foundation.
While the DataTool is built for self-guided exploration, community members can also hear a brief overview of the updates during an upcoming Civics Academy lunch-and-learn session. Wisconsin Policy Forum President Jason Stein will discuss recent updates to the tool and share how it can be used to better understand SDB finance and performance.
Civics Academy: Using the SDB DataTool to Understand the Finance and Performance of the District will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 12:00–1:15 p.m. in the Community Room at the library.
