Beloit Public Library is hosting a celebration of the spoken word with a full day of activities on April 28! There will be giveaways, free audiobooks, door prizes, and a free lunch to the first 100 to register for the Lunch & Learn. To register, stop in or call (608)364-2905.

The event features the award-winning author/illustrator duo Lesa Cline-Ransome and James Ransome, as well as actor/narrators Dion Graham and Jayne Entwistle. Join us for an engaging day of talking, listening, and learning from the experts. The day will include a special storytime and crafts for kids, Reader’s Theater class and performance, and voice competition.

Writer/editor LESA CLINE-RANSOME and her husband JAMES RANSOME, an illustrator, are based in Rhinebeck, New York. Together, they have collaborated on a number of books including Satchel Paige, Young Pele, Quilt Alphabet, Before There Was Mozart, Words Set Me Free: The Story of Young Frederick Douglass, and Light in the Darkness. Their most recent book, Before She Was Harriet, was named a 2018 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor Book.

DION GRAHAM, from HBO’s The Wire, also narrates The First 48 on A&E. An Audie Award winner and critically acclaimed actor and narrator, Graham has performed on Broadway, off Broadway, internationally, in films, and in several hit television series. He most recently earned accolades for his narration of Trombone Shorty for a 2018 Odyssey Honor, The Force: A Novel, named to the 2018 Listen List of Outstanding Audiobook Narration for Adult Listeners, and 28 Days: Moments in Black History That Changed the World for an Audie Award 2017.

JAYNE ENTWISTLE is the beloved narrator of the popular Falvia De Luce series as well as the 2016 Odyssey Award-winning Newbery Honor Book, The War That Saved My Life. Before becoming an actor and voice-over artist, Entwistle earned a graduate degree in counseling. She is active on stage, in film, in commercials, and on television.
